7. To observe the Health and Safety requirements (as explained in the informal chat and induction session) and act on instructions given by BOST staff.

8. To be friendly and welcoming to other volunteers/staff at all times and to have regard for our Equal Opportunities policy, Safeguarding Policy and Confidentiality Policy as outlined at the informal chat and Volunteer Handbook.

Person specification and Experience required:

Crossbones Garden has great local and London-wide significance as a non-denominational, non-judgemental place where the ‘outcast dead’ can be remembered. The gates are a key element to the identity of the site and are regularly adorned with new symbols of remembrance at the monthly vigils. The graveyard and shrine has been championed for many years by local writer John Constable who helped establish the Friends of Crossbones.

BOST was granted the lease for the site from TfL and began work on the garden in 2015. BOST is working closely with John, the Friends of Crossbones and other local individuals and companies to protect and develop Crossbones.

The aim is to provide a sensitive, contemplative environment for all who spend time here. We welcome applications from anyone who wants to get involved, previous gardening, wardening or volunteering experience is not required.

Tasks are suited to all levels of fitness and needs. A detailed knowledge of the site is not required, however we would like wardens to be able to answer basic questions about Crossbones or know where to direct enquiries that they cannot answer.

To apply for this job please email us a cover letter and your most up-to-date CV.
