Job Description: 
  • Street sweeping in hot spot areas
  • Clearing and disposal of cardboard from public realm
  • Litter picking, including landscaped borders, and disposal
  • Removing needles where identified
  • Cleaning areas infested with pigeon droppings
  • Street furniture polishing and cleaning (bins, bollards, benches, fingerposts, Legible London structures and flat signage and event structures as directed)
  • Cleaning and polishing of glass wall and monolith installation.
  • Removing graffiti and fly-posting in the project area
  • Jetwashing, Kings Plaza including benches
  • Jetwashing Waterloo steps
  • Jetwashing underpass at Westminster Bridge
  • Jetwashing area by cages at QEH
  • Jetwashing light columns along Queens Walk
  • Jetwashing Whitehouse Apartments
  • Cleansing Charlie Chaplin Walk
  • Collection and disposal of leafs (seasonal)
  • Assisting with gritting on pathways as directed (seasonal)
  • Waste collection on private and public land (complying with differing disposal methods)
  • Public liaison
  • Taking digital photographs depicting before and after graffiti removal and/or fly-poster removal
  • Record and report defects to Contracts Manager
  • Any other duties as identified by the Supporter

General requirements

              1.            Operatives should not hold any unspent criminal convictions.

2.            Operatives should be physically fit and able to fulfill the functions specified in the job description and below.

3.            Must have a full clean British Driving License. There is a driving element to this role.

Person specification and Experience required: 

Operatives should:-

 

1.            Have good verbal and written English

2.            Have worked as a street sweeper or street cleaner for at least one year

3.            Have undertaken training in graffiti and fly poster removal

4.            Demonstrate a clear commitment to the team approach; exchanging ideas and providing support to colleagues

5.            Have the ability to assimilate information quickly and accurately

6.            Demonstrate resilience to stress, maintaining effective performance in pressurised conditions

7.            Apply enthusiasm, energy and reliability in all activities

8.            Retain an awareness of the work environment, ensuring that the safety of customers, colleagues and self is paramount

9.            Seize opportunities to create a positive and professional image of the service through discussion and personal example

10.          Build effective working relationships with other operatives within contract area

11.          Have undertaken customer service training and conflict management training

12.          Able to use a digital camera
